THIRD DOCTOR
Sarah Jane Smith was walking down the high street when the Christmas Trees attacked. Before she could even scream, the trees flew forth from windows, doors, anywhere and began attacking everyone in sight. Sarah would have laughed at the sight if she hadn't been scared for her life. The man walking on the other side of the street had no chance. Sarah ran and made her way to the only place she knew could help.
Sarah burst into the Doctor's lab where he was crouched over some sort of scientific device.
"Hello Sarah. I thought you were out shopping, something to do with Christmas." He said.
"Well," Sarah began exasperatedly, "I would have done, if the Christmas trees didn't begin attacking everyone!"
"Christmas trees? Killer Christmas trees? Now now Sarah, I know we have seen a lot of strange things, but Killer Christmas trees? Don't be so ridiculous."
"Doctor!" The Brigadier entered the lab. "Doctor we've received words of Christmas Trees coming to life and attacking people."
The Doctor frowned.
"Hmm. Do we have any Christmas trees here?"
"Yes. It's currently trying to murder the Cooks with Tinsel."
In the cafeteria, the said Christmas tree was indeed whizzing around, Tinsel arched like whips trying to grab the terrified Kitchen Staff. For some reason the Doctor didn't think the Tree wanted to spread Christmas Joy and Cheer. The Doctor leapt up on the table and shouted "Pass me the fire hose, quick!"
The Brigadier pulled the nearby Fire Hose from its wheel and handed the end to the Doctor. The Doctor ran round and round the tree, wrapping it up in the fire hose. After a few moments, the tree was tied up, trying it's best to break free. The Doctor pulled out his Sonic Screwdriver and waved it over the tree.
"Hmm... it seems to be following commands on it's own form of communication channel. If I just..."
The Sonic Whirred some more.
"There. I have the frequency. Come on!"
The bewildered Sarah and Brigadier followed the Doctor back to his lab. The Doctor pulled a television set up, connected it to the radio and began tinkering.
"Now, if I just reverse the polarity..."
The Picture flickered... and then a very familiar face appeared.
"Oh." Said the Brigadier.
"Oh." said Sarah.
"Oh. " said the Doctor.
"Hello there." Said the Master.
"Well, I knew you had a taste for the theatrics, but Killer Christmas Trees. Don't you think that's a bit much? Even for you?" The Doctor asked quizzically.
"Well I had to get you attention somehow Doctor. And honestly, using Christmas trees to attack people at Christmas? I'd be an idiot to resist." The Master leaned back in his chair coolly.
"Well your little fun and games are over, Master. Because I'm going to stop you."
"Oh are you? Well come and get me! You'll never find me! Soon all the humans will be dead and the planet Earth will be mi-"
The Doctor flicked off the screen.
"That's quite enough of that."
The Doctor was at the TARDIS controls.
"Doctor, do you even know where the Master is?" Asked Sarah.
"It's pretty easy actually. I just need to trace the signal from his transmission back to its source. It's very easy. Too easy. Which means he knows I'd do it. Which means it's probably a trap."
"So what do we do?"
The Doctor pulled a lever and the TARDIS took off.
"Spring the trap" he said with a smile.
The TARDIS landed in an old factory. The Doctor and Sarah exited.
"Are you sure the Master is here?" Sarah asked.
"Oh yes I'm sure." The Doctor replied.
"How?"
"Because he's standing right behind us."
Sarah and the Doctor turned. The Master was stood behind them flanked by two giant Nutcrackers.
"So Doctor, what do you think of my Nutcracker guards?" The Master said with an evil smile.
"I think they're a little too well dressed for the occasion." The Doctor muttered.
"Regardless, I think their very strong jaws will be enough to crush yours and Miss Smith's heads with ease." The Master clicked his fingers.
The Nutcrackers lumbered their way towards the Doctor and Sarah.
"Not very fast are they?" Sarah mentioned.
"Tell them that when they've caught us. In case you haven't noticed, we don't have anywhere to run."
The Doctor was right. There was no way out. The Nutcrackers were between them and the TARDIS and the Master was guarding the only door.
"Well Sarah. I think it's time we play our hand."
The Doctor raised his Sonic Screwdriver and pressed a button. The TARDIS doors swung open and a Christmas Tree sprung out. It grabbed the nutcrackers and flung them against the wall where they shattered into pieces. Then it advanced on the Master. Tinsel flew out and wrapped around him, tying him up nicely.
"Just a simple bit of polarity reversal." The Doctor grinned.
The Brigadier was sat in his office answering several telephones all with the same news, the trees had stopped attacking. The Brigadier leaned back and smiled. Whatever the Doctor had done, it had worked. He paused, and heard the distinct sound of the TARDIS. He walked to his office door and opened it. He just glimpsed the TARDIS vanishing and in its place was the Master all tied up with tinsel and a bow in his hair. A note was attached to him. It read:
Merry Christmas Brigadier, from the Doctor. P.S. Put him somewhere safe for now.
The Brigadier laughed.
"Merry Christmas to you too Doctor."
The Master Scowled.
